First, let me say that I was completely ecstatic to be chosen to receive Sacred Rest; Recover Your Life, Renew Your Energy, Restore Your Sanity by Saundra Dalton-Smith, M.D. for free in exchange for my honest review!
Do you ever have a book that just speaks to you before you even read it? This book did just that and I couldn’t wait to get the copy in the mail!
While most of my friends think that I am Wonder Woman for the number of things I “accomplish” through the day; what they don’t see is how tired I am despite the fact that I get 8 hours of sleep at night. Why did I never feel rested? Where was my energy? After reading Scared Rest, I finally had my answer. Sleep does not equal rest and rest does not equal sleep! I know, it is mindblowing!
Dr. Dalton-Smith explains the difference between rest and sleep and what it truly means to rest. She also goes into great detail about the different types of rest that we might be missing out on, creating chronic rest deficit. Turns out, I am suffering and in need of 6 of the 7 types of rests!
With each new chapter describing the different types of rest we need, she goes into detail on how to evaluate that current rest need and also how to obtain that rest.
A must-read book for anyone of any age, suffering from fatigue, moodiness, brain fog, etc… It wasn’t until I read this book that I actually understand that I need more than sleep, I also need to rest! I will be keeping the book close and go back to it as needed throughout the day! Definitely a book we should all own!

By combining scientific research with personal stories, spiritual insight, and practical next steps, SACRED REST gives the weary permission to embrace rest, set boundaries, and seek sanctuary without any guilt, shame, or fear.
