Hunting Zombies Together | Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks | San Antonio Texas

January 5, 2017 by Nutty Hiker Last Modified: February 24, 20229 Comments

For the second year in a row, we headed down to San Antonio a couple of days before Christmas to spend 2 nights exploring. The only difference this year from last year is we took the kids with us.

Because we took the kids, we decided to do all the normal tourist “trap” things like Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Guinness World Records, etc… Typically when we are on vacation alone we like to stay away from places like this (since you can find them in most major cities) and explore the more not so well known attractions or history-related attractions.

The kids, however, love things like this and if you have never been to a Wax Museum you should definitely check it out! There are over 200 wax figures and plenty of photo opportunities.

It starts out with your typical famous people and presidents. Supposedly they are all life size, and if that’s true, man does the big screen make several of these actors look taller!

About halfway through the museum, they have a green screen souvenir photo booth. The kids wanted to do a zombie theme (ok and maybe we did too) and because the package of 2 photos is almost the same as one, we chose to do another scene as well instead of getting two photos with the same scene.

After you have taken a souvenir portrait, you head into fairytale land, where many of your favorite fairytales are recreated in wax, followed by Texas History.you then have the option of going into the horror movie section (highly recommended).

You then have the option of going into the horror movie section (highly recommended), however, you can choose to skip it.

The tour ends with scenes from the bible.

Our Thoughts

Typically this isn’t something we would do with just us as we like to visit the more unusual and offbeat attractions as well as history points of interest, but if you have kids and do not live in or near a big city that may have these, you should go ahead and stop by.

I grew up in Dallas where we have one of these, but my husband grew up in an extremely small town in Washington and had never been to one.

If you decide to go, we suggest getting the combo ticket which will let you into waxworks, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, as well as a 4D movie.

Lol yea! It was even worse. I finally gave up trying to tell the “photographer” how to work green screen software.
