So, I went hiking today (my only day off) and decided I would make my goal of 5 miles. It’s time to whip my saggy behind back into shape!
I headed to Chalk Ridge Falls to see how far the trail actually went. I also brought my camera this time which added about 7 extra pounds to the about 10 pounds I was already carrying. Needless to say, my pace per mile was well, lets just say, lacking and not what it normally is. In fact, I might of well of just been crawling.
I don’t care though; I made it as far as I could down the trail and decided to turn back after finding the trail blocked by several tree’s that had fallen down. While I could have maneuvered through them, I decided doing it alone was nuttier than I am!
On my way to the fallen tree’s, I ran into a squirrel. It was wet and dead. How does that even happen!? It was of course right in the middle of the trail. Why do I always find the dead things!? Or why do the dead things always find me?
After the squirrel, I thought to myself “wow I am so happy I haven’t ran into a snake”. And honestly, that was a miracle in itself considering I was hiking along the river.
I kept hearing all these weird noises. I may have started to get a little paranoid. Out there deep in the woods, all alone with nothing but dead squirrels, snakes, and the boogie man. So I decided to make a short little video for all of you:
And for those that were wondering if I saw a snake, yes! I looked over in the water and was admiring the beauty of it when a snake decided to screw it all up and make me scream and do the icky dance!
As for the people I “heard” it was two younger Soldiers out hiking and guys if you are reading this, no I didn’t make it all the way to the campground, I stopped at the fallen trees. If you have been back out and made it further than that, let me know!
