Father’s Day came early for my husband! Since the kiddos will be gone this summer and will be leaving a few days before Father’s Day, we decided to have an early Father’s Day and give the hubby his presents. He has been bugging me for almost 2 weeks and it drove me insane.
I finally gave him a hint about 5 days ago. The hint was Rack (It had two meanings, it was Track without the T or RAC which is Car spelled back wards). Of course, I just allowed him to believe it was some kind of rack (like a gun rack, etc…). I did a lot of lying the past two weeks. First, let me tell you what he got.
I bought him the Richard Petty Driving Experience (he gets to drive a NASCAR style car 8 laps around Richmond Motor Speedway), The Richard Petty Ride Along Experience (he will ride shotgun in a NASCAR that will travel around 165MPH for 3 laps around Richmond Motor Speed Way), and 2 tickets to the NASCAR Brickyard 400 Race in Indianapolis. Oh and he also got the new Godsmack CD, a bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee, a bag of chocolate, and a mountain dew (I needed something to weigh the box down, lmao).
This was hard to pull off. I had to change the password on my personal bank account so he would not be able to see the transactions, I also had to use my work email address so he wouldn’t be able to see the confirmation emails, and I had to come up with a way to make him think some sort of “item” in a box would be shipped to the house (I couldn’t let him know it was coming in an envelope as that would give it away) or did I also mention I had to also make sure that I was the first one to check the mail every day? I do need to thank my Mother and Step Father here as they helped me pull all of this off.
Yesterday I drove to Target to buy a shipping box. I filled the box with a Car shaped box which was filled with tissue paper and the tickets to everything somewhere in the middle of it.
I used the mountain dew, coffee, and chocolate to help weigh down the box, and a ton of bubble wrap and tissue paper to take up the extra space in the shipping box. I wrapped the box in the back of my truck in the Target parking lot while it was raining (that was interesting), came home and presented him with it.
Once he got to the tickets he became speechless. The only words that came out of his mouth was WOW over and over again. Needless to say, I pulled off the best surprise ever!
He did ask how the hint rack had anything to do with his presents. I replied, oh did I say rack, I meant Track, guess I forgot the T sweetie! =)
