My need to hike is strong! It’s no secret I haven’t hiked in what feels like ages. Between kids, work, the fire department, and life; time seems to have flown by. Before I knew it I looked up and saw December staring me right in the face. Wasn’t it just August?
I feel the need to start hiking again. It is so relaxing and beneficial not only physically but mentally. I love the fact that I live 5 minutes from the trails at Dana Peak Park and can go on a quick hike when the need arises.
In fact Dana Peak Park was one of the main reasons we chose the house we did. Oddly enough, not many know there are miles and miles of hiking trails so close by, despite they have lived here for a while.
I am often asked how I received the nutty hiker nickname. First and foremost, I am an avid hiker. If I could spend the entire day hiking, I would. Once you step foot on the trails it’s hard to step off them. Secondly, I tend to either act a little “nutty” or I always have a crazy story to tell.
It’s true that I have never had a boring hike, that’s for sure! That’s saying a lot considering I use to hike anywhere from 3-15 miles daily. It’s been several months now since my last hike and my regular readers have assumed I fell off the face of the earth.
I wonder if I can talk my husband into hiking with me while he is on block leave these next two weeks? Oh whom am I kidding? My husband may always seem like he complains about hiking with me, when the truth is he loves it almost as much as I do!

See you on the trails!
