2015 Road Trip

Posted June 4, 2015 / Last Updated March 17, 2022

My husband’s 20-year high school reunion is coming up this summer. Instead of our typical vacation to some tropical island, we decided to make a road trip out of it as we drive to Washington State in July. Our 2015 Road Trip will consist of over 5,000 miles!

We have our 2015 road trip planned out!

Road Trip 2015 Itinerary

Our 2015 road trip was roughly 5000 miles! This was our first road trip together (other than moving, which I don’t count). We were also kidless this time around as we spent about 3 weeks on the road. I finally got to see where my husband grew up which was really cool! He’s from a little bitty town in Eastern Washington.

I blogged each stop along our 2015 Road Trip, so make sure to come back as I get the posts up to see all the pictures and details of each stop! If it is in bold, then it means I have blogged it. If there is no link to click, then I am still working on getting the blog post up!

2015 Road Trip Itinerary

Below is our itinerary in order of the places we stopped. Once I have them up here on the site, they will be linked below.

Odessa Stonehenge
Odessa Meteor Crater
Carlsbad Caverns
Roswell, New Mexico
Petrified Forest National Park
Wigwam Village Motel
Grand Canyon National Park
Flinstone’s Bedrock City
Chloride Ghost Town
Hoover Dam
Las Vegas
Clown Motel
Area 51
Dayton, Washington
Idaho State Penitentiary
The Perrine Bridge
Arches National Park
Los Alamos
RT 66 Auto Museum

Outside of Yellowstone there is a place that has wolves, can’t remember if its north gate or west gate

And if leaving through Portland then its like an hour over to the coast, anywhere between seaside or. And Florence or. Along highway 101 is spectacular!

Lake Tahoe. It’s my second home as I lived in the Lake Tahoe Valley for more than half my life. I think it should be on everyone’s bucket list. The lake is gorgeous on it’s own, but there is also TONS of different kinds of things to do in the area, from beach bumming to gold panning to casinos….not to mention some of the most beautiful hiking on the planet. Just sayin. ;) I’m so jealous!

You would love the Winchester House and Alcatraz if you are going all the way down to California!

Alcatraz is a must for you Bridget. It is WAY spooky inside, and if you’re lucky like I was you might get to see an Orca whale while waiting for the ferry to take you back to San Francisco!

Travel to Amarillo and take Route 66. There is a stretch of road that if you drive the posted speed limit the bumps on the road plays America The Beautiful

The sand dunes at the Oregon California border you must go for a ride in the big trucks its so much fun also pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco are absolute must Tahoe is amazing anywhere along the Sierra Nevada mountains really or the coast of California if you take Highway one all the way down the coast it’s an amazing drive because you don’t deal with all the crap you just stay along the coastline. If you can’t tell I’m from California grew up in the bay area but have been from one tip to the other side to side and I love that place also Eugene Oregon is a very unique town to go to its on i5 very interesting lot of really cool kind of hippie places

You must be on the west side of the state lol. We are going to my husbands hometown in Dayton for 3 days (his choice) then the other 2.5 weeks are being spent traveling and exploring all the states from Texas to Washington and visiting landmarks and stuff I’ve wanted to see since I was a kid.

Bridget be careful of the bat thing. I think you heard the story about how Grandma and Grandpa took me and Cindee to it, and a bat swooped right over my head! Mom couldn’t get is out of there fast enough! But yeah, Carlsbad is very cool. You’ll love it. Make sure you take a sweater. Oh, and there used to be a cafeteria in the cavern too. Yeah, it’s THAT big.
