Rainforest Cafe in San Antonio || Dining for the entire family!

January 2, 2017 by Nutty Hiker Last Modified: February 24, 20222 Comments

On our first trip to San Antonio in 2015, I realized there was a Rain Forest Cafe on the River Walk. My husband had no idea what kind of restaurant it was as he had never been to one (or even heard of it).

Since I am from Dallas, I had been to the Rainforest Cafe that is located in the Grapevine Mills Mall several times. The atmosphere is amazing and kids of all ages love it (as do adults)! I tried explaining the atmosphere, but we decided he needed to see it for himself.

Upon our second trip to San Antonio, he made sure that we took the kids there, knowing they would love it!

We stopped in for lunch and they were in awe! The Rainforest Cafe is decorated like the rainforest complete with thunderstorms (minus the rain of course)! Every single inch of this restaurant is decorated to make it look like you have stepped into the rainforest!

Complete with animatronic animals that come to life every 15 minutes and thunderstorms every 30 minutes or so, you really feel like you are in the rainforest.

Their food menu consists of American food in VERY LARGE PORTIONS! We typically get cheeseburgers, which you can pretty much have any way you like! I like to get mine with guacamole and sautéed mushrooms =)!

Each hamburger comes with a large onion ring on it (which you can take off, but I suggest giving it a try and leaving it on). You can’t see it in the picture below but the burger is huge. The salad you see behind me is supposed to be a side salad!

While you are waiting on your food, get up and walk around all three levels of the restaurant. It really is magical!

Rainforest cafe is fun! I’ve been to the one in the Galleria in Houston and the one in Grapevine.

I haven’t taken my daughter yet, but I am sure she would love it!
