My weight loss journey…a year later! It was about a little over a year ago that I really started trying to lose weight, and I did succeed in losing about 17 pounds in a 5-6 month period from October – March. I got down to around 163 or so, but my goal weight is 150. Then we got PCS orders; and even though I did not lose any more weight, I did manage to maintain it from then until about December when I decided to jump back on the weight loss wagon and get to my goal.
My husband bought me a Golds Gym elliptical (my favorite weight loss machine) and for the first 2 weeks, I was on it at least 10 minutes a day, in addition to counting calories. Let me tell you, that first 2 weeks SUCKS! I love food, and when I stopped smoking in Jan of 2010, food became my stress reliever (really bad move).
But I knew this in advance. I also knew that just like quitting smoking, that if I can make it through the first week, the second week would be easier, and by the end of that second week, my habits had changed and my stomach had become smaller (I couldn’t eat as much in one sitting as I did just 2 weeks prior). But then, I became so busy with work, that the elliptical started collecting dust, I did, however, continue to count calories. I didn’t want to weigh myself this past Monday because I was sure I had not lost any weight.
Today I gave in and weighed myself. I was surprised as heck to see that I had lost 2.5 pounds in 2 weeks (my last weigh-in). Additionally, I have lost inches in my waist and hips =) Let me tell you this, I did not go on some healthy eating kick either. All I did was count my calories. I also didn’t work out with except for maybe 2 days, and I know a couple of days I went way over my calorie goal.
Who wants to do the excited dance with me? It’s been almost 7 weeks since I started my weight loss and I have lost around 7-8 pounds and mind you this was during Christmas when we went on vacation and ate out a TON for 2 weeks.
