Killeen Daily Herald came out for a hike!

Posted August 5, 2014 / Last Updated October 27, 2022

The Killeen Daily Herald came out for a hike today! It’s definitely been a busy last several days, between KCEN coverage and Jerry Deploying, however, the rest of the week will be just as busy. The Killeen Daily Herald came out today to cover my story of hiking 1000 miles.

Thankfully Tammy and Teresa both came out to hike with me this morning. The journalist didn’t actually hike with us, just asked a bunch of questions for her story. I was still grateful to have her there to cover the story and spread the word! She did a great job telling the story but got a piece of information wrong:

“This particular Tuesday morning, Aug. 5, Carlson was joined by Tammy Hiatt and Teresa Lewellen, whose husbands are in the same squadron as Jerry Carlson. The women’s spouses are different ranks — which, Lewellen said, makes their friendship “unheard of” — but they don’t let it impact their camaraderie.”

While Tammy is married to a Liuetenant Colonel, he is not part of Jerry’s squadron. In fact, they have yet to actually meet. Tammy and her husband are our neighbors from one street over.

You can read the story on the Killeen Daily Herald website: Army wife plans to hike 1000 miles while her husband’s unit is deployed.

If you tracked miles today, feel free to comment with them so I can add them to the log!

Teresa 2.5ish, I stopped the app, but didn’t do “finish workout” and somehow it started back up as I was driving down Comanche Gap Road. I am just counting 2.5 And from where we turned around, that’s pretty accurate.
