The Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarship is open to all spouses of all Uniformed Services members including active duty, National Guard and Reserve, retirees, and survivors.
The Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, and school room and board for:
GED
ESL
Vocational training
Professional certification
Post-secondary
Graduate school
In-class or online
Full-time or part-time
Additionally, spouses are also eligible for funding, typically $1,000, to build their own businesses which include:
Entrepreneurs
LLCs
Direct sales
Franchises
Contractors
and other for-profit ventures.
Those who are not eligible
- Surviving spouses who are remarried, unless they are remarried to a service member
- Children
- Spouses of former service members, unless they are retired or medically-retired
The National Military Family Association will begin accepting applications for the scholarship on October 1, 2017 until January 15, 2018. A valid Military ID is all that is needed to apply. You will be required to answer some questions in both short answer and essay format, which is used for the selection process.
