Q. How do I apply for an ID card to present when visiting attractions, Parks, etc.? My buddy has one called Certificate of Service Armed Forces of the U.S. he uses it for free admissions and I would like to apply for one myself, he carries it in his wallet as ID.
A. This is one of the most common questions that has been asked. What you are referring to is the U.S. Marine Corps Certificate of Service NAVMC-455, (other branches also issued them) and although I am not 100% sure, I believe these are only issued in lieu of lost or destroyed discharge certificates and only during the Vietnam Era. A search on google did not turn up any answers, maybe one of our readers will have a better answer for you!
Although, not the same as above, there is an identification card issued from the VA called the VIC (Veterans Identification Card). You can check out the VA website on how to apply for one http://www4.va.gov/healtheligibility…ion/idcard.asp The Veterans Identification Card is issued by the VA for the purpose of identification and check-in for VA appointments. You can only apply for one if you are eligible to receive VA medical benefits.
