What I am Reviewing
Today I am excited to review the Gerber Stake Out camp multi-tool in Bronze.
From the website: “The Stake Out camp tool handles the activities that every trip faces: setting up camp, maintaining body and gear, cooking, and packing out.”

What I Liked
Lightweight: For the number of tools provided and durability it is surprisingly lightweight coming in at only 3.32 oz.
Tool Options: The Gerber Stake Out camp multi-tool comes with 11 different tools all compacted into one tool which is perfect for campers, RVers, Overlanders, a bug-out bag, or for overnight trips on the bike. The tools provided are right on point with everything you would need at a campsite and nothing you wouldn’t.
Carabiner: Loved that they added a carabiner built into the frame which makes it easy to attach to my pack or belt loop.
Tent Stake Puller: Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I love that they added a tent stake puller as one of the 11 tools on this multi-tool. Sometimes I drive the stakes in a little too well and this pulls them right up without much effort!
What to Improve
Tent Stake Ease of “opening”: While the tent stake works perfectly on the Gerber Stake Out multi-tool, getting it “opened” (for the lack of a better term) takes more time and energy than I would like to see. I assume after a lot of use it will get easier, but the design of how it is held “closed” makes it pretty tough to “open”. You pretty much have to fight with it by lifting it up by the hook and then swinging it open past the knob that holds it into place. Not as easy of a task as it sounds.
Overall Impression
I am really impressed and love the Gerber Stake Out camping multi-tool. With 11 different tools for the campsite, it is the perfect tool for campers, RVers, Overlanders, and bug-out bags. It feels great in the hand, is lightweight, not bulky, and above all else is super useful. I really appreciate the built-in carabiner as it allows you to have quick access to the tool without having to dig it out of a pocket.
While the tent stake puller is hard to open, it is still a very useful tool to have on the Gerber Stake Out camping multi-tool and is greatly appreciated.

Not having pliers is a deal breaker for me. The pliers are the second most used tool after the knife on my multi tool.

Yes, pliers!!!!

I have never needed a pair of pliers while backpacking…ever. So I would have to disagree there. For a regular multi-tool, yes. A multi-tool for backpacking (which was the main reason for this review) pliers aren’t needed which makes this a great tool for backpacking. Pliers would just add extra weight to the multi-tool.
