What I Liked

Softness & Comfort Level – The socks were very soft and comfortable. I did not find it to be itchy or irritating at all. Heck, for the most part, I forgot I was even wearing socks!

Made in the USA – All socks are made right here in the USA at a hosiery mill located in Osage, Iowa.

Moisture Wicking – I was able to wear the Fox River socks that were sent to me while visiting my Mom in the mountains. This time of year it can be 65 or 40 for a high. I found that on the warmer days it did great keeping the sweat at bay by wicking it away and during the cooler days, did a great job of insulating against the cold.

Mesh Vented Panels – This kind of goes along with the moisture-wicking from above, but I truly appreciated the mesh vented panels. They helped keep my feet dry and odor free.

Stayed in Place – This may not be something someone thinks about much, but the socks stayed in place while out walking with my Mom around her land. There is nothing more annoying than your boot socks falling down or moving around the heel area. I did not have that issue with these.

Women’s Specific Fit – Three of the four pairs of Fox River Socks that were sent to me were a women’s specific fit. What a difference that made in the comfort and fit of the sock. It fit much better in the toe area than normal unisex socks.

What to Improve

Heavier Weight – I’d like to see Trail Heavy Weight socks with the women’s fit. I saw several heavy-weight options but none with the women’s fit which I think would really set them apart from other sock manufacturers that are geared toward hikers.

Toe Socks – I’d love to see toe socks offered. There are very few sock companies that offer toe socks for hikers. The most well-known brand (which I use and have done a review on before) just doesn’t hold up to the rigors of hiking. I would love to see Fox River get in on the toe sock industry and start offering toe socks for hikers.

Overall Impression of Fox River Socks

Overall a great sock! Only time will tell how well they hold up, but so far I am impressed with both their comfort level and performance. They kept my feet dry and odor free and I would frequently forget I was even wearing them. While I can’t currently comment on their durability, they feel and appear to be very well made with solid construction. I don’t foresee wearing a hole in them anytime soon. Those that have followed me for a while know that I have been a diehard Darn Tough sock wearer for years, however, I keep finding myself reaching for these instead! They truly are a very comfortable sock!
