I was recently sent The Emotional Edge by Crystal Andrus Morissette by Blogging for Books for free to read and give my honest review.
I was really intrigued to read this book as on the front cover it says:
Discover Your Inner Age, Ignite Your Hidden Strengths, and Reroute Misdirected Fear to Live Your Fullest
The first chapter talks about your emotional age as well as a quiz to find your emotional age. I find this kind of writing style extremely useful as many books will talk about certain self-help topics and some will even tell you step by step how to determine what “type” of person you are, but let’s face it, quizzes are much easier for more people.
The 2nd chapter goes on to talk about the different dominant archetypes or communication styles as well as how to determine which one you fall into.
The 3rd chapter goes into the different types of communication on the communication scale as well as how to find your triggers and deal with those triggers.
Once you are done with chapter 3, you have found yourself halfway through the book, however, this is where it starts to get bland and seems to just repeat what had been said previously.
However, chapter 5, 7, and 8 again peaked my interest as you are able to start to dig deep into your own life to find out who you really are, how to start loving yourself, and deal with stress.
All in all, I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. It would have received 5 stars had I not felt that the book started to get stale and lose my interest halfway through.
If you are interested in purchasing this book you can find it on amazon (aff link).
