DIY: Wood Polish

January 9, 2013 by Nutty Hiker Last Modified: September 29, 2017Leave a Comment

Here at home, we are trying to save as much money as possible. Because of this, I have started making my own cleaning supplies. We are a family of 6 + 2 dogs. My children do help me clean and for some reason, I cannot ever get them to understand that a little, goes a long way.

I was literally buying furniture polish almost weekly! So I decided to set off and find one to make on my own that would not only be cost-effective but also “green” since my children are after all handling the products. So after searching and

After searching and searching I made up my own concoction that works pretty dang well. Always test a small area with any DIY products!

DIY Green Wood Polish

DIY Wood Polish

Ingredients:
Spray Bottle (use a new one, so there isn’t any weird chemical reaction)
1/2 cup water
1 cup olive oil
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 drops of lemon essential oil (optional but it does make it smell better).

Directions
Pour all into spray bottle and lightly shake to mix. You will also have to lightly shake before each use to mix the ingredients. This is oily, so only use a small amount; however, it wipes of easily and polishes with a nice shine WITHOUT the furniture feeling oily.

It makes enough to almost fill the bottle (the picture here was taken about a month or two after I had made the batch).
