They are coming home early! ANNOUNCEMENT!

October 31, 2014 by Nutty Hiker Last Modified: February 18, 202212 Comments

If you follow the 3d CR RSS Facebook page, then you see that they have already announced that RSS is coming home early from deployment. As in 4-5 months early. Here is the announcement from their Facebook page.

It reads:

Dear Task Force Muleskinner Families,

Due to the hard work of your Troopers, we officially transferred Tactical Base Shank to our Afghan National Security Force partners on Thursday, 23 October. The last remaining Troopers from RSS arrived at Bagram Air Field that same day to wave good-bye to our first 56 Troopers departing for Fort Hood. These 56 Troopers will arrive some time on the 26th or 27th of October. Each of these Troopers were afforded an opportunity to provide the Ready Detachment with the name of an individual that they would like contacted in the hours leading up to the flight’s arrival. Once the flight arrives, your Troopers will be bused to Cooper Field for a quick Welcome Home Ceremony followed by a 48 hour pass prior to reintegration training and block leave. RSS has additional flights scheduled in mid-November for our remaining 275 Troopers returning to Fort Hood. I hope to have all of our redeploying Troopers home for Thanksgiving. Finally, I salute RSS’ remaining Troopers who will continue to provide sustainment to the Regiment in Afghanistan at Forward Operating Bases Gamberi, Fenty and Dwyer. Thank you for your continued support to your Troopers as we begin the reintegration process. Brave Rifles!

Respectfully,
Lieutenant Colonel Michelle Donahue

Basically, they should be home sometime before Thanksgiving, in fact, they have already started coming home and just last week the first rotation arrived.

So what does that mean for our goal?

I still plan on continuing to log miles until April 1, 2015, as that is 9 months. While I would like to think that I am wonder woman, there is no way I can push out 650 miles by Thanksgiving. So, I urge everyone to keep sending in miles and lets reach our goal by April 1st!

Lmao yea that’s not going to happen! Haha. I’d have to push out like 150 miles a week. I’m still going off the 9 months schedule!!!

Yea they finished their mission much earlier. They weren’t supposed to be home till March or April sometime. The boys have been gone for about 4 months and Jerry has been gone for 3. So a quick deployment!
