First day of being solo, it was hot as balls, and I saw my first snake on the trail. Oh, and I passed by Isaacs Cemetery.

We didn’t get back into town from getting my truck until about 3 pm, but I wanted to get some miles in.
Suspenders dropped me off at Campbell Hollow Road, and I hiked Southbound to 19E. That’s the cool thing about being supported like this; I can look at the day’s mileage and choose to do mostly up or mostly down, lol. I will almost always choose mostly down, I hate the ups HAHA.
There were a lot of blowdowns, thankfully, most of them had been taken care of, but I had to jungle gym some of them.

The trail was really overgrown in a lot of places as well, so a double tick check was going to be in order!
Isaacs Cemetery – Mile 398.5
I didn’t find any history about Isaacs Cemetery before my hike. However, the Appalachian Trail runs along the border of the cemetery; however, I did not see any access points from the trail. A gravel road leads to it, and the entrance is located across the road from Buck Mountain Baptist Church. There is no sign along the main road to indicate that a cemetery is located at the end of the driveway.
From the limited history I found, the oldest burial at Isaacs Cemetery dates back to 1813 with the last name Potter (appears to be an infant), with the most recent one being in 2025. One would assume this used to be an old family cemetery at one point in history, but there are very few Isaacs buried here, and the first person to be buried here had a completely different last name.
If you are interested in who is buried here, you can find a list here.
So, what is the history or story behind Isaacs Cemetery? Well, that remains a mystery. If you have any info on it, comment below and let me know!

I had some great views today and came across a really funky-looking tree.

I also met another thru-hiker today, his name was Easy. I forgot to get a picture, as usual. He was hiking NOBO and had run out of water. I gave him one of my liters of water because I didn’t need it as I was meeting Suspenders in about 2 miles.
Shortly after running into him, I ran into my first trail snake. Meaning, I saw a snake for the first time while on the trail (I have seen some others, but it wasn’t while I was hiking on the AT).
I finally made it to 19E, where Suspenders was parked and waiting for me. Remember the homeless “camp” I talked about yesterday? Well….we met one of the residents. He was talking to Suspenders for a while, and then I talked to him for a while. Apparently, there are a couple of homeless guys who live there. He was drunk, but seemed harmless. I didn’t get any bad vibes. Just be aware… he will talk your ear off, lol.
