First, let me start off by saying that this is NOT a sponsored post! I am not being paid to talk about this, heck they didn’t even ask me to. I am simply writing this post to inform others of this incredible program that is FREE. Best of all they send you a FREE Under Armor Band (which keeps track of your steps, heart rate, sleep, and tons of other stuff).
About the program.
A couple of months ago I saw a post on Facebook about a Texas pilot program through Military Wellness Initiative. The program offered a free UA band just for participating in their free program. The post said:
Are you a military member (Active, Reserve, Guard or Veteran) living in Texas?
If so, you and your spouse are eligible to join our Texas Pilot Program and early registrants will receive a no-cost UA Band, a sleep and fitness wearable by Under Armour.
Join us and show there can be a different approach to military wellness!
Of course, I was skeptical at first, but both my husband and I decided to try it out.
What really happened.
Low and behold about a month or so later, we had an email stating that the program was open. Our next step was to verify our identity (through a well known and secure site called ID.me).
Once we verified our identity and registered on Rally Health (the website you use to participate in taking charge of your health and fitness), we were asked for our address to send our UA Band. About a week later our free UA bands were waiting for us at the door!
We have worn these non-stop since receiving them. It has a clock, step tracker, fitness tracker, heart rate monitor, sleep monitor, and several other features! Heck, you can even program an alarm on it to gently wake you up by vibrating your wrist in the morning (or whenever).
NOTE: The program is currently only for Military and their Spouses living in Texas.
How to get your free UA band.
If you are military or a military spouse living in Texas and would also like to join this program and receive your free UA band, you can do so here. UPDATE: They are no longer accepting new participants, however, you can still pre-register your interest in the program and they will notify you of future efforts when they become available.
Did you join?
Were you one of the lucky ones that were able to sign up for this program? If so, let me know below and feel free to add me on Rally Health. Just use the search bar at the top of werally.com and search for nuttyhiker then click connect!
My thoughts on the UA Band.
Simply, I love it! I have tried other fitness trackers and by far this is my favorite one. It does everything I want it to do.
Some features:
- Shows the time
- Heart Rate Monitor
- Auto Detect Sleep Monitor (to show how much you sleep per day)
- Step Counter
- Fitness Tracker (you can choose what activity you are doing)
- Fitness Alerts (it will vibrate if you have been inactive too long to tell you to get up and move)
- Alarm you can set to wake you up by gently vibrating your wrist
- Water resistant so it can be worn in the shower
- Bluetooth enabled allows you to get notifications on your band when you get a text message or phone call. Also always you to control the music app on your phone.
- Plus a ton of other features!
The only thing I do not like about it is the charger for it. It’s magnetic from what I can tell and sometimes takes some finagling to get it to charge. Of course I would also love to see if offered in additional colors to or with changeable bands for a more fashionable look. After all, I am a girl =)
Can’t Wait?
If you don’t want to wait, and would like to purchase one, amazon has a great deal on them. (aff link)

I signed up for it but never downloaded the document they asked for. I’ll try again next time.

They never asked me to download a document. Weird! Both me and Jerry got ours and LOVE them!

I had a hard time getting them to verify me.

Ahhh ok. Yea we just used our USAA for verification.

I don’t remember my USAA member number. They wanted me to upload an LES but it’s like pulling teeth to Jim to email me one.
