Day 4 started out early with frost on the inside of my rain fly and was our longest day yet! But what a beautiful day full of sunshine, even if it was cold.
We finally got some amazing views which made the climbs so worth it.
My left knee started acting up, more like killing me. I had hurt it on Day 1 when I stepped off a ledge the wrong way. Originally I thought I had twisted my ankle and didn’t really think anything about my knee. My ankle turned out to be fine, but I guess all the ups and downs of today irritated it.
By the time we got to camp, I could barely move my leg, my knee hurt so bad.
I set up my tent, although for the life of me I could not get the pitch perfect (which is required of this tent). Due to that, the inside kept falling down (sliding out of the clip). My butt was cold again, but I combated that with large hand warmers that Ripley gave me before we left Blairsville the morning before. Thanks to them, I kept warm.
This night was the night I decided without a doubt that I wanted by Big Agnes Tiger Wall tent and wanted to switch out my pad. I love the length of the Paria pad, but I need to have a wide width pad. Due to that, I have no choice but to go up to a regular length pad and take the weight penalty.
Tomorrow starts the climb over Blood Mountain and down into Neel Gap where we will head into town to take a zero.
