Pinhoti Trail Day 29: Oakey Mountain

February 5, 2025 by Nutty Hiker Last Modified: March 30, 2025Leave a Comment

Oakey Mountain isn’t as tall as Dugger Mountain, but man it kicked our butts worse than Dugger did.

It took us 9 1/2 hours, and the last 1.5 miles felt like torture. That small dang hill at the end, just about did us in. I swear it took us like two hours to get up and over it!

We did have some nice views today and came upon our first sign for Katahdin, which was unexpected.

We also got to step on the Chief Ladiga Rail Trail briefly as it connects with the Pinhoti Trail.
