Well, it is now official, we are homeowners! We are so glad that this part is over with and we can now just concentrate on moving. I will say that the home buying process for us was actually smooth. And the best advice I can give anyone who plans on purchasing a home, make sure you have worked your butt off to have good credit. This means getting a copy of your credit reports, combing through them, paying off those debts and getting them removed (thankfully that was something I had already done many many years back). Also, get a copy of your credit score so you know where you stand. Then apply for a mortgage. It will make things just go so much smoother! We really did have a very simple process because we had good credit. The only stressful part was actually finding a home that I liked (hey I am picky) and waiting for the seller to respond to our offer. The actual loan process was a breeze. I am sure it didn’t hurt that we had an amazing loan officer and Realtor!
Anyway, we went to transportation a little over a week ago and got our packing and pickup dates and turned in our 30-day notice to housing last week.
Now it’s just a matter of continuing to go through rooms to get rid of stuff we do not want to move and pack the items that we will be moving ourselves (the items we don’t want the movers to move, such as pictures, and other items that just can’t be replaced if they are lost). We now have just 28 days until the movers arrive to start packing!
