PCS Blog: Found A Realtor

February 20, 2013 by Nutty Hiker Last Modified: February 17, 2022Leave a Comment

I am happy to say that we now have found a Realtor! I will be leaving for Texas around March 8th so I can find us a house. I knew that I needed to find a Realtor soon, so she or he would have enough time to gather our needs and wants in a house, as well as learn more about us so they could find us that perfect house.

I decided to go with Gloria with StarPointe Realty. I actually found her on twitter, if you can believe that! She had replied to one of my tweets about a PCS letting me know her last PCS was from the West Coast to Texas (I am coming from the East Coast to Texas). I went over to her profile and saw she was a Realtor for Fort Hood. How’s that for destiny?

So I emailed her a short novel the beginning of February, outlining what we are looking for, what we need in a home, and what we want in a home. I also included more about us as a family, our hobbies, and our career. This will give her an idea of what kind of home will be best as well as the best area to live in. I also went ahead and sent over our mortgage company we are going through along with the loan officers name and contact info. The idea was to give her as much information about us as possible so she could take that information and start narrowing down choices. Which by the way there are a lot, considering we want to be within a 30-mile radius!

Now, remember I am leaving to go down there on March 8th. I have emailed her this information a month in advance to give her time to search for homes. Now granted this is 1 month away and many of the homes may no longer be for sale on March 10 (the day I will actually arrive in Texas and be ready to start looking). However, she will at least be able to start scouting areas for us and keep an eye out for new homes coming onto the market. The last thing you want to do is send all this information just a couple of days before (or heck even a week before). Give your Realtor time to put together all your information, so he or she can search for a house without feeling rushed!

Anyway, so I am set to go. I have a mortgage company who has pre-approved (this is better than pre-qualified) us for a loan as well as a Realtor, all ready and waiting. I will admit, I am finding it hard to just sit here and wait. A very large part of me, would just like to jump in the truck and head on down there!

For those not as lucky in finding a Realtor the way I did (pure luck), a quick google search with the word Realtor as well as the area you want to move to, should bring you several results.
