What I am Reviewing

Today I am reviewing a Minus33 base layer set as well as a pair of the Minus33 Mountain Heritage Micro Weight Full Cushion Crew wool socks and a pair of their Mountain Heritage Lightweight Boot Wool Socks. They both performed similarly, so for the purpose of this review, when I mention the crew socks, I am also speaking about the boot length as well.

Testing Conditions

Testing was done over two weeks in temperatures ranging from 32 degrees to 48 degrees. Some days were spent doing chores outside while other times were spent lounging on the porch.

What I Liked

Minus33 Base Layer Top: The fabric was soft and not itchy at all. It did its job and gave me the extra layer of warmth I needed while at the same time insulating me from any sweat that may have occurred. The fit was true to size. Not too loose and not too tight.

Minus33 Base Layer Bottoms: Just like the top, the fabric was soft and felt great next to the skin. For the most part, they also gave me the extra layer of warmth I needed, although they were way too short (I am tall). The fit was true to size, not too tight nor too loose.

Minus33 Socks: The socks did a great job of keeping my feet dry and providing warmth while doing chores. They moved with my feet well and did not bunch in any area of my boot/shoe. They felt like a glove for my feet.

What to Improve

Base Layer Top: I would love to see thumb holes added to the cuffs and a slightly longer torso (for us taller girls). Thumb holes though would be a great improvement. There’s nothing worse than trying to put on an outer layer and having the base layer sleeves get pushed up. Thumb holes would solve that issue.

Base Layer Bottoms: I would love to see longer inseams for those of us that are tall. These were too short to be comfortable as they were more like capris on me, which meant I needed to wear over the calf-length socks to keep them from riding up even further and to keep the lower portion of my legs warm.

Socks: The socks were great and I don’t really have any suggestions for improvement.

Overall Impression

Overall, I really enjoyed the Minus33 base layer and socks. The Minus33 base layer felt great next to my skin and did a great job giving me some extra insulation from the cold. While the bottoms were way too short (insert tall girl problems here) to keep my mid-calf and below warm, I was able to combat that by wearing over-the-calf socks.

The wool sock blend of their Mountain Heritage Micro Weight Full Cushion Crew wool socks felt like a glove for my feet. I appreciated the vent on top which helped to keep my feet dry, while still providing warmth.

I also love the fact that they are made here in the USA and offer a one-year warranty with the ability to add on an extra year of warranty by simply registering them for free on their website.

Where to Buy

You can buy your own Minus33 base layer and socks directly from their .
