“Level Up Your Photography” Challenge

March 12, 2017 by Nutty Hiker Last Modified: March 1, 2022Leave a Comment

Disclaimer: This post was sponsored by CreativeLive, however, all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Many of you remember when I announced that I would be giving up portrait photography (for the most part) and concentrating on landscape and wildlife photography. It wasn’t that I disliked photographing people, but rather I felt it was time to go back to my roots and back to what I was passionate about.

While I do consider myself a professional photographer, I also know that when it comes to photography you never stop learning. Throughout my portrait career, I relied on CreativeLive to learn not only about proper techniques and posing, but also post-processing.

Now that I have ventured back into my true love of landscape and wildlife photography I still rely on CreativeLive in order to continue learning about the wonderful world of photography.

They have an extensive catalog of photography classes for every genre of photography. From beginner to advanced and from lighting to post-processing; they really do have it all.

It doesn’t matter whether you are just a mom wanting to learn how to take better pictures of your kids or a full-time professional photographer wanting to learn better composition techniques; CreativeLive has a class just for you in their extensive catalog.

My Next Class

I just signed up for their Nature and Landscape Photography Class in hopes of learning how to better compose landscape and nature shots as well as how to better use available light to create the exact shot that I want.

I want to shorten my post-processing time by learning to use all available resources.

The Level Up Challenge

I hope you will follow me on my journey and participate in working on your photography skills as well. What do you want to learn to do? What is your biggest setback when taking a photo? Let’s do this together and challenge ourselves to learn something new!

Come take the Nature and Landscape Photography Class with me and let’s see what we can accomplish!

To help you get started, CreativeLive has been generous enough to offer my reader’s 20% off their first class. They have a class to fit every budget, so just enter the discount code ISHARE20 upon checkout!

Before Taking the Class

For accountability, I am posting a picture that I took about a year ago at a park that I frequently hike at. The reason I am not posting some of my “better” shots is I want to see if I can go back to this same spot, use the techniques I have learned in the class to get a better shot in camera.

In the picture below, what I saw with my eye and what I took with the camera are completely different. Sure, I could go in and heavily Photoshop it, but that is not what I am after! Believe it or not, Dana Peak really is a beautiful park! What I would like to work on with this, is finding the best light as well best composition for this shot. Right now, it is dull and boring.

I only edited with my normal edits.

Dana Peak before taking the CreativeLive Class.

Who’s Up For the Challenge?

So who will take this challenge with me? Let me know in the comments below what you struggle with. What class would you take at CreativeLive?
