Bubi Bottle & Bowl Gear Review

December 4, 2018 by Nutty Hiker Last Modified: May 11, 20203 Comments

This post is sponsored by Bubi.

First, let me say this…this bottle is pretty much bomb proof! In fact, it actually survived an alligator!

I was given the opportunity to test out the Bubi bottle and pet bowl. But guys, it’s not just a pet bowl but can also be used as a cup for yourself or even a funnel. For my test, I used it as a pet bowl on a hike with my pug.

Bubi Bottle & Pet Bowl with my pug

The Pug Test

For those that are not familiar with Pugs, they have flat faces making it hard for them to cool themselves down, which means if you take them for a walk they can overhead quickly even in cool temperatures. The way to combat this is by having water available and taking breaks.

In the case of my pug MRAP, he thinks he can hike mountains and has to be forced to take breaks. Water can be tricky too because of that sweet little flat face. In the case of the Bubi pet bowl, it was a perfect size and made it easy to stop for water breaks. He quickly learned what it meant when I uncollapsed the bowl and would wait for the water to be poured.

Features I Love

The features and uses for the Bubi bottle and pet bowl are almost endless, but here are some that I found useful and really like:

The bowl fits around the cap of the Bubi bottle. The cap is actually used as the bottom of the cap. so they stay attached (or you can choose to not have it attached) and make it easy to quickly get yourself or your pet water.

Bubi Bottle & Pet Bowl

You can attach it to your waist. So something I really liked is you can use the carabiner that is meant to keep it rolled up to attach it to your waist (assuming you are not just walking around in leggings). For short hikes with my pug, I typically just wear a “fanny pack” and this clipped around the belt of it perfectly which means I didn’t have to hold it in my hand for the 1-mile hike.

Bubi Bottle & Pet Bowl

It rolls up small. Speaking of rolling it up, the bottle itself rolls up and the cup collapses small. So it won’t take up a huge amount of room in your pack or gym bag!

Almost indestructible. Let’s face it, it isn’t indestructible I am sure I could find some kind of tool to tear this thing up, but this thing is dang near bomb proof! In fact, they had an alligator chomp down on it and other than blowing the cap off of it, the bubi bottle itself was completely intact with no holes!

Cleans easily. You can simply put it in the dishwasher (even the bottom rack) or if you are out on the trail, the bottle can be turned inside out for easy cleaning of both the inside and outside.

Hot or Cold, it will stand up to it. You can freeze it down to -100 degree Fahrenheit or heat it up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Multiple uses for the pet bowl. It can be used as a water bowl for your pet, or a cup for you, a funnel, or even to help you get a grip on jars that are hard to open if needed!

Multiple uses for the bubi bottle. Use it as a water bottle, or a hot compress, cold compress, food storage container, or a watertight dry case for valuables!

BPA Free. Made from BPA free and ECO-friendly medical grade silicone!

The Not So Great?

Weight. For those Ultra Light folks that count ounces, this product isn’t for you. The 22 oz bubi bottle and pet bowl together weigh in at 7.9 oz on my scale. But for the rest of us who typically carry Nalgene bottles that weigh in at 6.3oz, it is not that much of a weight difference when you consider that Bubi’s 1L bottle weighs in at 7.4oz (does not include the weight of the pet bowl).

Overall Thoughts

This is definitely something I will now carry with me when I hike with my furry kids! I love how durable and easy it is to use as well as the fact that the bowl stows nicely on the bottle, so everything is together in reach.
