BOOK REVIEW: Charlie Battery: A Marine Artillery Unit In Iraq

January 17, 2007 by Nutty Hiker Last Modified: July 16, 2020Leave a Comment

Charlie Battery is an outstanding recollection of the importance of the Battle at An-Nasiriyah and the role Charlie Battery played. Written by a Marine Dad, this is one of the best non-fiction books I have read in a long time. This book had me hooked from the first sentence.

Charlie Battery: A Marine Artillery Unit in Iraq Book Picture

Mr. Lubin did an outstanding job with Charlie Battery: A Marine Artillery Unit in Iraq by bringing this important piece of not only the Marine Corps but American history to life. While reading this book I found myself there with Charlie Battery, seeing what they saw, even smelling what they smelled. Well maybe not literally, but Mr. Lubin did an amazing job retelling the story of these brave Marines!

Job well done Mr. Lubin! Two thumbs up from this Military Spouse!

On a personal note we would like to thank Mr. Lubin for being the supportive Marine Dad that he is. Unfortunately, a lot of parents either don’t care or are unsupportive of the fact that their son/daughter decided to join the Military. We thank you for your commitment to your son and our Corps and for your help in producing one of the few and one of the proud. OOH-RAH!

I highly recommend picking up your own copy of Charlie Battery: A Marine Artillery Unit in Iraq. You can pick it up from Amazon below.

Charlie Battery is the harrowing and personal account of a Marine Corps artillery unit’s fight for survival in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Written by the father of one of Charlie Battery’s Marines, it follows the unit’s preparation for war, deployment to the frontlines and return home. Through revealing interviews with the young Marines, their commanding officers and parents, we are given a rare glimpse into what the early days of this war were like – not only for Marines who fought there, but also for their loved ones back home who watched it unfold live on CNN.
