Is your loved one deployed during his/her birthday? Why not put together a Birthday Themed Care Package aka Happy Birthday Care Package?
Note: All care package themes use the large USPS flat rate box.
Step 1: Decorate the inside!
Pretty self-explanatory, but the first thing you want to do before stuffing the box is to decorate it. If you have children, enlist their help, or do what I do and just hand that task over to them! Decorate the inside flaps with construction paper or birthday theme wrapping paper. Add stickers, handwritten notes, heck tape some balloons to the inside. Taping streamers to the inside flaps is also a great idea!
Step 2: Stuff the box!
Stuff the box with some of the following items:
Birthday Card
Favorite Food Items (don’t send restricted items though)
Bag of Birthday Balloons (trust me they will have fun with these over there)
Birthday Cake In A Jar
Plastic Spoon, Napkin
Tub of Icing
Birthday Hat
Noise Makers
Candles
And finally, any present (wrapped of course) that they might like, such as movies, etc…
Step 3: Seal the box & decorate the outside!
Pretty self-explanatory here. Go ahead and seal the box and feel free to also decorate the outside! Yes, it is ok to decorate the outside, just like you did the inside. If need be you can place Priority Mail Stickers on the box (or the clerk at the post office will do this for you as well).
Step 4: Attach shipping label and mail!
Go ahead attach the shipping label, make sure the customs form has been filled out, and head to the post office to mail your magnificent creation!
