Today I am super excited to bring you this review of SHREDLY adventure clothing for several reasons, but the main reason being that this clothing is made from ecoFAB, their proprietary fabric blend which is made of recycled and natural fibers. How cool is that?!?
What I am Reviewing
Today I am reviewing the Cascade Pant in Leia print, the Reglan 3/4 top in Electric Blue, and a Gaiter in Alpine print from SHREDLY.
Testing Conditions
For this test, I took a 5-mile hike here in Texas. 90 degrees with 65% humidity, partly cloudy day. The heat index was 102. The trail was both in the trees and out in the open. We hiked at about 2.5 mph.
What I Liked
I have a lot that I liked about the SHREDLY products that I was sent. I was super impressed even though, I will admit, I had never heard of them before this.
Pants
Stretchability – These pants have some serious stretchability! Squatting down, the fabric stayed put in all the places it should. It didn’t lower on the waist or rise at the ankle. It stretches beautifully at the knees without feeling tight.
Fabric thickness – The fabric is the perfect thickness. Not too thick to where it will sweat you out during the summer, but not too thin where you have to worry about snags or durability. For reference, I tested these during a hot Texas summer day with like 20000% humidity. The pants kept me dry and cool. I don’t know where my sweat went, but the pants felt dry my entire hike. I was seriously impressed.
Print – The print is vibrant and does not fade with washing or stretching (such as when you squat or bend over). I have noticed on lower-quality brands, that when you have print pants that have stretchability to them, the print will fade and stretch when you bend over or squat and it looks horrible. You do not have that with SHREDLY brand clothing. The print looks great no matter what you are doing.
Waistbands – They offer a couple of different waistbands to choose from because they understand that we don’t all like the same thing. I like their drawstring waistband so I can sinch it down as the day goes on or on longer hikes where I will end up losing weight. I also like the fact that the waistband is wide and does not roll. It really is a comfortable waistband no matter what outdoor activity you are doing.
POCKETS! – These pants have pockets galore! Two have zippers and two are regular style. All four pockets are on the front side with no pockets on the rear.
Top
Fabric thickness – The fabric was light and airy, great for that hot Texas summer hike. It wicked sweat away and helped keep me cool.
Length – Finally! A top that is long enough to not rise up while hiking and that goes past my waist! This is huge, considering I am 5′ 9″ and most tops fit right above hips which is super unflattering and ends up showing my tummy anytime I raise my arms. This shirt fits just below my hips and does not rise up to show my belly when I raise my arms.
Gaiter
Fit – The fit was perfect, not too loose and not too tight. Something I have found with other brands is that I would start getting a headache over time because of how tight those brands are. I didn’t have that issue with the SHREDLY gaiter. I wore it the entire hike and actually forgot I had it on.
What to Improve
There is not much I would improve, but I do have a couple of suggestions:
Pants – I am 5′ 9″ and the pants were about 2″ too short than what I would like. I would like to see tall sizes for the pants. Even with ankle socks, I had about an inch of skin showing. For proper fit, they would need to be about 2″ – 3″ longer for my height.
Top – There is not much I would suggest for improvement for the 3/4 top. The length and fit were both perfect. I’m sorry guys, I have nothing, at least for this style of top.
Gaiter – My only suggestion here, is to have more prints/patterns available. Right now the choice is limited to four styles to choose from.
Overall Impression
I am super impressed with all the items I was sent from SHREDLY, but the pants are what mostly caught my attention. They kept me cool and dry in the Texas heat. I expected to be soaked from sweat and was not (I would still like to know where the sweat went, lol). I can’t wait to try them out when it gets cooler outside to see how they hold up in the cold. I loved all the pockets available on the pants and the way the waistband stayed put during my hike and while squatting to take pictures of flowers and all the little creatures on the ground. They were super comfortable and I will continue to wear them even if I do wish they were a tad longer.
The shirt is such a perfect fit, both in shape and length. It’s so nice finally finding a top that is long enough to cover the belly area on my torso. I loved how “airy” it felt on, especially in the hot Texas sun. It did great wicking away the moisture and keeping me cool.
The Gaiter was a nice surprise. I had no issues with it feeling too tight or giving me a headache as many others do. I completely forgot I even had it on.
Overall, I am seriously impressed and believe you will be too, plus they use recycled material for most of their products (93% to be exact). They are a women’s adventure clothing brand that is made by women, so they know that not all women are made the same. They really have a unique brand of adventure clothing…and I am in love with them! I highly recommend you try them out!
I plan to do a video review of this SHREDLY outfit soon, so be on the lookout for that and make sure you have subscribed to my YouTube channel.
