The perfect Christmas 2010

December 26, 2010 by Nutty Hiker Last Modified: February 19, 20221 Comment

I must say that Christmas 2010 was absolutely amazing. It’s the first year in a very long time and only the 2nd time ever, that I have not had to travel anywhere on Christmas Day. Add in the fact that I decorated our family room well enough that it could be easily placed on the cover of Better Homes & Garden (I still have no idea how I pulled that out of my butt), and it was your picture-perfect postcard of a traditional family Christmas (Military Style of course).

Christmas 2010

Why Military style? The rest of our family is spread out over Texas and Washington. Since they could not be here with us in person they were with us via webcam. My Dad, Step Mom, In-laws, and ex-husband all at the same time.

The kids, of course, were spoiled rotten this year. Between the electric guitars, iPod touches, DS Games, PSP games, clothes galore, lego sets, and all the gift cards the kids got everything they asked Santa for (Santa apparently didn’t read his naughty list very well).

Hubby got crash symbols for his drums, Cowboys jersey, Seahawks jersey, clothes, electric razor, gun cleaning kit, gift cards galore, and hunting stuff.

I was spoiled as well. I got everything on my list and so much more (I am not sure that has ever happened before). Honestly, I am happy with just handmade cards or crafts. My mother and stepdad got me an embroidery/sewing machine that I must say is very cool. I can make any design I want on my laptop, plug the machine up to it and send the design from my laptop to the machine. Hubby got me 2 necklaces (one of which is a key and before giving it to me said “Remember how I always told you that you have the key to my heart”), Paula Dean cookware, Paula Dean knife set, Army Wives complete seasons set, Desperate Housewives complete seasons set, perfume, and clothes. My Dad and Step-Mom gave me a gorgeous watch and a ton of gift cards.

While the tangible gifts were nice, they are not what made this the perfect Christmas. The best present, of course, was being able to spend it with my entire family even if it was via the internet.

And after the presents were all unwrapped, we looked outside to the sight of snow falling. Granted not enough for any accumulation, but it was a perfect end to a Christmas morning as I started cooking Christmas Dinner.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas as well. To those that are serving overseas and could not be with their family, you are the reason we get to celebrate this great time of year and we are forever grateful for your service and sacrifice.

Very beautiful, Bridget…. You did an outstanding job on your family room. I’m almost tempted to use that picture for my Christmas cards next year. lol.

We also had a wonderful Christmas way down here in South Carolina. Even had snow Christmas afternoon and evening. That’s a first, I believe, since I’ve been down here, since 1977. I hope everyone had as enjoyable a holiday as I did.

    Happy New Year, Y’all……………..
