Keep your Pokemon, I have The Oregon Trail

The Oregon Trail Card Game!

The Oregon Trail Card Game now at Target

While everyone is out chasing Pokemon, I have been waiting patiently for the release of The Oregon Trail card game.

A while back on Facebook, I ran across a news story about the upcoming release of The Oregon Trail game. It was being released as a desktop card game. I was stoked even though they had not released a date that it would be on shelves.

Today while down at the fire department, I saw another news article stating that the game would be released today. The only catch is that it was being released as a Target exclusive. I packed my bags, called it a day, and headed to Target.

After searching high and low, I could not find it. I finally headed my way to the electronics counter to ask. The guy behind the counter pointed to one that was being held and said “yes we should have them” and led me to where I just was.

You can imagine my huge disappointment when we realized there were none left! However, that sweet guy said, “well since the one behind the counter has no name as to who it is being held for, you can buy it.” And buy it I did! So for those in the Harker Heights/Fort Hood area, they are out of stock but you can still buy it online.

Before I left I sent a text to my husband letting him know I was headed to Target to buy a board game that I had been waiting on to be released which was just released today. He sent me back a text asking which game, to which I replied I will send you a pic as soon as I get it. I can just imagine the perplexed look on his face.

Guess what I am making the family play with me tonight? It’s definitely not Pokemon, that’s for sure!

P.S. If you are one of those Pokemon players, please for the love of holy water stop parking in front of fire stations and blocking apparatuses. They have real-life emergencies to get to which trumps your virtual gym time with a Pokemon! =)

Just played it! Loved it! I’m going to write another blog posts with tips to decipher the instructions. Halfway through we realized exactly how it was supposed to be played.

I was skeptical at first too, but it’s actually pretty fun as a card game lol. Granted I still like the computer game better, but I am just happy to be able to show my kids it!
